A strand of glossy black lacquer beads, set with a larger bead of blue, white and gold xipi marbling at its centre. Either side sit a green bead with a fine sparkle and a translucent dark amber bead flecked with copper, and a gold magnetic clasp closes the strand.

Each bead is built up by hand in layers of natural lacquer over a sandalwood core, and the marbled bead is polished back to reveal its xipi pattern. Because each piece is made by hand, colour and pattern vary a little from bracelet to bracelet, and photographs are for reference.

The story
Xipi lacquer is made by building up many coats of coloured natural lacquer and polishing them back until a marbled pattern appears. Each bead on this bracelet begins as a sandalwood core, lacquered and polished by hand. It is made to be worn every day on its own or with other pieces. No two bracelets are alike.

Technique
Xipi lacquer: layers of coloured natural lacquer are built up over a sandalwood core, then polished back to reveal a marbled pattern. The black beads are finished in natural lacquer and polished to a deep shine.
Care
Keep dry and away from perfume, lotion and heat. Do not leave in strong sunlight. Wipe with a soft dry cloth and store alone in its pouch.
