A small gold ball stud holds an oval bead of deep brown lacquer, glossy and scattered with fine flecks that catch the light in gold and green. Below the bead hangs a slim, polished gold teardrop.

Each bead is built on a sandalwood core and finished in natural lacquer with gold leaf worked into the surface by hand. The studs are 14k gold. The flecks fall differently on every bead, so each piece varies a little in colour and pattern, and photographs are for reference.

The story
Deep brown natural lacquer is built up into an oval over a sandalwood core, with gold leaf worked into the surface by hand and the whole polished to a gloss; fine flecks show in gold and green. Where the leaf falls is different on every bead, so each is unique. The oval hangs from a small 14k gold ball stud with a slim, polished gold-tone teardrop below, about 3.5 cm in all.

Technique

Care
Keep dry and away from perfume, lotion and heat. Do not leave in strong sunlight. Wipe with a soft dry cloth and store alone in its pouch.
